Is the guest account 100% safe for the most part as long as they aren't running a file with a known virus or something?

Say a guest is making a text file or something. Can they save it where it's not deleted etc?

I don't want them to be able to do that at all. I want to make sure there is nothing they can do or store crap anywhere :D

IIRC the guest account is wiped clean after logout, if they want to save something I setup the "Shared" folder in ~/Users/ so they can save things permanently if needed.

Then I won't have a problem when my friend comes over and wants to use my computer.

If I enable the Guest user account are they restricted to what programs they can run at all?

Does having the guest user account take up any HDD space?

You can restrict the applications that a guest can run through system preferences in the Accounts section (caution! it can take awhile depending on how many apps you have, and want to restrict.). I'm not at my Mac right now so I'm not 100% sure but I believe the guest account is completely erased upon logout.
