Is there any way to restore files from a guest account on a Mac book

my wife has been using a guest account for several months and never logged out or restarted. Today my son 4yrs got his hands on the laptop and she was prompted with a screen about logging out and losing files

Time Machine wasn’t setup

please help she’s a basket case

How are you at finding and using data retrieval tools? If the disk hasn't been written to and it was not encrypted there's a CHANCE the data would be readable. Unfortunately - she found the side effect of using a guest account rather than a standard user account.
