I am using a new macbook pro with office 2008. However, the performance of office 2008 (at least excel) is so poor, I am not able to realistically use my macbook for work.

I When I run my spreadsheets on a Dell Latitude (Windows XP, Office 2003) - the file loads and recalculates in less than 1 second. On my macbook, 20+ seconds to load - and if I want to change a chart or recalculate +30 minutes. The excel file is about 3.4M - and the calculations (to show line graphs) are very simple (sort, sum, average, etc).

I can't tell if the problem is with my specific installation or computer settings, or if the problem is due to how Office 2008 and 2003 handle the recalculation - any suggestions?

Thanks
