@Mugambo Not really, but don't be one of the ones who comes on here and whine and say " I waited until I got off work/school and ATT ran out" which happens every single year. This is just more of an warning sign for people who know that there AT&T location might be out, don't plan to pre-order, first time buyers, or people who might have to go to work before 8:00AM and need to know how organized things will be .

The AT&T press release had previously stated that pre-orders can be picked up from the AT&T store starting June 25th. So I assume this info is only for people who go to the store to buy one w/o pre-order?

Can anyone explain to me why ATT pre-orders can't pick up their phones till the 25th? That makes no sense at all.

Some AT&T stores expecting lines from June 15th? whos gonna wait in line for 9 days?

Yep,

That explains why when I went in to discuss my upgrade eligibility, the CSR preceeded to try and sell me Uverse as a way to make up for the extra $200 my iPhone will cost. (New Uverse custs get $200 cash back.)

If purchasing the iPhone 4 from an Apple store was a possibility for me, I'd so be there, but I'm probably going to end up at my local AT&T. I just really don't like the AT&T store; they seem to handle everything very slowly. If dallas112678 is right, and I really won't be able to pick up a pre-ordered phone from AT&T until the day after it's released, then screw that. I'd much rather head over to Best Buy since it's a much better experience and closer to me, but I don't want to head over there if they don't offer pre-orders and risk leaving without a phone.

Since we know for a fact we can't preorder at AT&T and pick it up on release day...

Are there any facts on preordering from other stores (Best Buy, Radio Shack, Wal-Mart, and Apple) and picking it up on release day?

If the reserving does not really lock you to the phone, you could always put one on reserve and then go to Best Buy. If you do not end up getting one, you then have a fallback. However, I am not sure how AT&T handles this.
