So I was at a Border's book store a few minutes ago and was at the Seattle Coffee shop and saw a guy and his daughter using an iMac that they brought there! I'm sure the book store doesn't provide coffee drinkers with iMacs to use. Doesn't he have a laptop for this? I can't believe this. See below.

Wow. At least it is an iMac. My family's PC has a massive tower with lots of wires to connect. The iMac isn't like that.

It's more common than you might think. I've seen several in coffee shops over the years, since they went to the flat rectangular designs.

I guess it's not all that ridiculous when you consider that you would only need to carry around with you the computer, a power cable, a keyboard and a mouse.

Actually screw that, it's still ridiculous!

I don't see any problem with it. They make iMac cases - pull out your iMac, plug it in, turn it on. Not everybody can afford laptop and an iMac. I'd much rather use an iMac than a Macbook anyway.

iMac iMac, iMac.

That's so ridiculous! It's beyond ridiculous, it's obnoxious. That's about as stupid as these idiots that still feel the need to cart around their miniature dogs with them as an accessory.

That's fairly ridiculous. I'd rather use any portable than a desktop machine in that situation, be it a Netbook or old black and white IBM (even though they likely wouldn't have a wifi card).

Maybe its someone who already had an iMac and then lost their job? Broadband is expensive and would be one of the first things I'd cut if that happened to me.

Perhaps, but there's a more likely scenario: the guy is a twunt.

If he needs a Seattle Coffee and yet also needs to use a computer, perhaps an investment in a cheap coffee machine, and some coffee grind from Seattle Coffee would allow him to use the computer and entertain his kid using his desktop computer at home, and on a desk.

If he's just another Mac user who needs to be seen using a Mac at a café (and there are lots of these folks around), then he's a twunt.

I'm not saying all Mac users who use their laptops at cafés can be labelled this way, but this person seems a bit desperate to use a computer at a café. Seriously. WTF?

T'was my initial thoughts too. Someone who wanted to make local news perhaps? (I don't know how common this kind of thing is, I've never seen a customer using a desktop computer in a coffee shop)

Seen it before. However I have never seen the much more rare desktop PC, although pics are out there:

Was it completely necessary to bring the iMac to a coffee shop? Thats what I really want to know.

What an idiot. even if an iMac was the only computer I owned, I wouldn't do something like that. I'd feel a bit awkward even using my notebook out somewhere, given it's big for a laptop.

...even if they do make special cases for toting your iMac around.
