My understanding is that unless you get a 3G iPad 2, then the unit won't come with gyro and capability for GPS.... I really don't care about GPS on iPad, but really confused on what Gyro does.... Any help really understanding???

You understand wrong. Gyro is in every iPad 2. Gps and 3G is the only difference

Really.... That is good to know... So then GPS is only for mapping utilities???

Or anything that utilizes location-based information such as Around Me, Scanner Radio/Police Radio, FourSquare, etc. Those kinds of applications would only be as good as the WiFi location available.

Free gyros with iPad 2!

Seriously though, there are some interesting augmented reality apps that use a gyro and would be even better on a 10" screen... but once again the limitation of the camera hits us. Argh.

Your understanding based on what? It was clearly stated that iPad 2 comes with a Gyro, regardless of what version or colour it is.

What limitation of the camera? The iPad 2 cameras work perfectly for augmented reality. Sme of you people don't even know why you'd need better cameras.
