The fact the cinema display has no external audio is really really annoying.
I have some nice speakers that i want to attach to it, and for the following reasons i was wondering, if anyone had opened the thing up, and run a wire from the internal speaker externally.

I have a USB sound card, which works ok, but i purchased a minidisplay extension so i could watch my cinema display from afar.
THe display cable works fine, but the USB cable carrying the audio to the USB sound card doesn't work properly.
Sound is carried through the display cable, but only to the internal speaker.
This sound works though the extension cable fine.
This really really bugs me.
I was wondering if anyone had tried this.

Why not just change the output by option-clicking the volume icon in the menu bar or going through system preferences and choosing the line-out option?
