Here's an idea I had for quite a while, you know how the iPad 1 has a proximity sensor, right? How about using that to monitor for changes and "magically unlock" the screen when you uncover your iPad? Also it will lock the screen when you close the case. I have no knowledge of coding but it would make a very useful cydia tweak for us iPad 1 owners.

Not a proximity sensor, an ambient light sensor. And yes I would imagine that it can work.

Yeah, I figured it was either one, but my guess was proximity sensor. It stil should be ale to measure a change from (forgive me if I'm wrong) from a light value of x to light value 0-10 and from 0-10 to anything above that. and the nice thing is is that this will work with any cover/case! No magnets needed!
