Today, I had an issue where the majority of files, from my mounted network shares and the Drobo connected to my iMac, vanished.

I had previously installed Dropbox on my Mac Pro Server and set the Dropbox folder as a network share, so I didn't have to install Dropbox on all of my 5 machines. That Dropbox account/share only contained my 1Password databases, with Dropbox syncing working exactly as expected. After having some issues with the 1Password database living on a network share, I decided to install Dropbox on each machine and setup syncing in 1Password using Dropbox directly.

Shortly after installing Dropbox on my iMac and setting up syncing in 1Password, I noticed files were going missing from my Drobo. After that, I noticed files missing from the network shares mounted on my iMac. I also noticed that Dropbox was constantly syncing files on ALL devices. My 1Password database that WAS ~20MB was continually growing beyond 150MB.

I did have a backup of all my data, so that's not a huge deal, but I need to determine if I've been breached. It's also worth noting that I had an administrative account on all of the machines with the same password. Additionally, I had the Drobo shared over my local network.

The only service that was reachable over the web is a VPN, with only designated users having access and a strong shared secret.

Anyone have any thoughts?
