Hello people of the internet, I am attempting to make a Hackintosh and I am at the screen where I go through the install steps. I am trying to download Mac os el Capitan but I keep getting an error saying "This copy of the install OS X El Capitan application can't be verified. it may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading."

I tried changing the date on my Hackintosh in the terminal with several different dates but nothing has worked, I also tried remaking the installer but that also didn't work.

Oh I should also mention that I downloaded the os from apples website

To make the installer I used open cores legacy offline method.

hardware:
laptop-ThinkPad e550
processor-i3 4005u
graphics- intel 4400
wifi-dual band AC 3160
storage-ddr3 4gb

any help would be greatly appreciated!!

also, I apologize if I posted this in the wrong thread, wasn't sure which one to put it in lol

That is in the same category as MacBook Air 6.1 (mid-2013), so it should support up to Big Sur.

Why are you trying to install El Capitan?
I suggest using Clover, but you can find guides for Open Core as well

Thank you it worked!! I don't really remember my thought process of installing El Capitan, but I just finished installing Bug Sur and it is working great!
