Hey guys, I know there's a thread with photos of your hackintosh, but can we see some specs here? What components did you use? How did your install go?

If you wanna get more in depth (eg. ISOs) then we can take this to the insanelymac forum.

Components:

a q6600 c2quad 9go stepping) 2.4ghz oc'd to 2.91ghz on stock cooling (tested with prime 95 for a day no errors and no real increase in temps over 2.4...did not change cpu voltage)

gigibyte p35 ds3l motherboard

4 gig 800mhz ram

500W PS

msi 8800gt 512mb oc'd

500gig hd (osx with xp via vmware)

80 gig hd booting vista

dual layer lite-on dvd burner

Performance

i get a geekbench score of ~6600 with 64 bit enabled

Bought this sytem in Feb for 900 bucks

Install

As far as installing osx, i initially used kalyway method

I have since gone with boot-132 where you install osx via a retail osx disk

issues i have or have had:
1) dvd burner causes kernel panics when i am burning a disk like 50% of time. Still trying to fix this issue. No problem ever though playing dvds, or importing cds, etc, only when burning
2) initially have no audio but that is a very easy fix

reason i went to boot-132 is so i could install apple udates at ease and not have to wait for a hacked version as i did with kalyway. only con with boot-132 is that you have to have the iso image in drive to boot osx. once booted though, i can take it out

anything else you want to know, let me know!

@dukebound85

Yea, I want to use the retail method, but I'm pretty sure at the moment it's only Intel, I have an AMD64. Oh well. When I build my next box, it'll for sure be running OSX.

I like Mac's so much, but the MacPro is just out of my price range and the Mini is not powerful enough for my uses. Unless Apple releases a $1500 desktop with a decent expansion ability, I'll have to make my own.
