Had a Gen 1 (not Gen 0) SS AW display pop off with swollen battery. apple support not supportive and had no options for me other than to buy a new watch. I feel a bit off with the experience since I bought these watches and stuck with them for further OS improvements which never improved the watches. Apple makes it seem as if these watches are ancient tech after warranty ends but it was working fine before it fell apart and it was their most expensive version other than the gold. I also purchased SS AW3s when they came out and the sapphire glass scratched on 2 of the 3 watches. I'm losing trust in Apple watches since its a short lived product. IS there anything out there which protects the consumer from faulty designed products not being backed by the manufacturer?

An extended warranty that was purchased to protect the device? There are 3rd parties you can use. An Amex doubles the manufactures warranty period if purchased with one of their cards that offers the protection.

Nothing lasts forever.
