Had Phone Jailbroken, now upgrading to 4.0. Restore from Back Up or Restore as New ?

I haven't set a phone up as new since the original IPhone. By using this option does that mean I just have to apply my old setting again? Does this option erase all my voice notes or are they saved into

Any information would be appreciated and I apologize if some of this has already been answered in other threads.
