Hairline crack..

I know this has been talked to death, but I just wanted to hear what some others had to say.

I got my 3gs on black Friday last November. I dropped the phone early January but everything was fine.

I noticed a small hairline crack a few weeks later right by the silencer switcher. It was what appeared to be a surface crack. But a few days ago I noticed it is now much deeper.

I'm thinking of taking it in but what are the average results for doing so?
I know some people take it in and get a new one, no problem.

if there are no marks from where the phone was dropped I would not mention it. just say you took it off the charger this morning and it had a crack in the screen.....
