Hey guys!
I´ve just bought my first Air, it´s 13.3 2012 model, everything is great except one thing, when I type on keyboard it SEEMS that keys on the left part of keyboard are harder to press and keys on the right side are hard to press. I have noticed it immediately after I received it. I tried to test it with my friend and he said same exactly same thing, but after we changed hands - I wrote with right hand on the left side of the keyboard and with left hand on the right side and it was vice versa, left part of keyboard was soft and right part hard.

I just want to know if it is normal for Macbook Air or I have some issue with keyboard or I´m just paranoid?

Thanks!

Not sure if serious.

Sounds like you have a monster right hand and a significantly weaker left one. Might want to switch hands for a few months (if you know what I mean).

I've been reading these forums for quite a while on the Air, and this is the first comment of this type I've seen. Can you take it to an Apple Store and compare it to another one?

so i just received my 13" an hour ago, unfortunately no samsung hhd nor lcd, but my keyboard is also easier to press on the left hand side compared to the right, anyone else experience this?

I have it different, right side is soft/easier to press

You guys should meet up and swap keyboard halves. :D

Really though, you should go to an Apple store to compare other models. That's your best answer. Bring your computer with you.

I'm starting to think that it is normal, maybe my mind is suggesting it but somehow more I type on it it seems to be more "normally", anyway I can still feel that some keys aren't so easy to press than the others. Personally I think that week or two with this Mac I will get used to it and keyboard will be more used and it will be normal.

Still, I would like to hear your opinions and I don't want to hear about switching hands! :D

I agree. I have the 2012 13" Mac Air and the 2011 11" Mac Air and there is an obvious difference between the two. The 2012 just feels mushy all around.

No difference on my 2012 MBA 13". Take it to the Apple store and have a genius feel it!

What do you mean by that? Do you have options on these? How did you check it?

Call your doctor, get a prescription for Viagra... crush the pill into powder, add a little water to make a paste, then rub it on the soft side. It'll get hard in a jiffy. I know it's embarrasing, but just say "I need the Viagra so it's hard in my right hand" ... they'll smile and write the prescription.

Unfortunately here we have only Apple Premium Resellers so here aren´t "geniuses" and closest Apple Premium Reseller store is about 60km (40 miles)

They aren't options. However, Apple has multiple suppliers, and there are minor differences between the screens and SSDs use. It isn't likely to be anything a casual user would notice.

Hey guys, do you think that they will replace it for me? I have it just one week and it has LG screen with Toshiba HDD so it can´ be worse, only better

Hmm... just tried out the keyboard on the 13-inch 2012 MBAs in the Apple Store... doesn't seem consistent/right. I found keys on the left side to be very mushy. My 2010 feels a lot better, but then again, the 2010 keyboard has no backlight.

Is this the new norm? The store displays all seemed to have one half mushier than the other half. A would be bad, L would be much better.

The one I received is misaligned, as in there isn't much gap between the keys and the aluminum on the left side of the keyboard. I noticed this while trying to figure out why almost half of my keyboard had this mushy/scratchy sensation when I pressed on it. Perhaps this is what you guys are talking about... Or maybe not :)
