hey there,
so, my macbook pro's (late 2008) keyboard and trackpad stopped working about a month ago. i've been trying to get it working again, but to no avail. :/
it initially stopped working when i updated my software. it got stuck on the startup screen after restarting from the install, so i had to hard shut down and restart. when i turned it back on my keyboard and trackpad didn't work. i restarted again and it worked. since then it's been going in and out and now it's finally stopped working all together.
since i'm pretty sure it's a software issue i wanted to reformat my computer. problem is that i can't hold down the option key to boot it from my install disk!
any ideas?

...oh, and i had to type all this from my usb mouse, and type each key on the keyboard viewer... my index finger hurts.

System Preferences -> Start up disk -> Select the install disc and click reboot

It should then boot from the install disc
