heh, i mean "hold-up on start-up screen"
Today I was using my MacBook Pro running on battery power.
Usually, I get a warning when its near the end of battery life, like i'm supposed to. This time, the computer just went black. I assumed that I missed the warning and it had gone to sleep. I tried to wake it, and it didn't work. I pressed the power button and it began to start up, as if the dead battery had caused it to shut down.
However, the start-up gets stuck on the screen with the Apple logo and the spinning "loading" symbol. The same error occurs when the computer is plugged in. I am able to boot into Windows, so it can't be too serious, right?
I've attempted Apple+Ctrl+P+R and it didn't help. Also tried Option then selecting the Macintosh partition, did not help.
Any help or suggestions are appreciated, thanks!
Also, I'd like to avoid re-installing Leopard due to the fact that my install disc was left at home across the country...
...unless it's possible to start up using my Tiger disc to attempt a HDD repair and then return to Leopard afterwards...?
