Hi all..

encoding my movies to ATV preset via Handbrake, theres something i was wondering:

I noticed that when you select either Apple TV Presets 1 or 2, you see the FPS change to 29.97 (NTSC).

How would this affect PAL users HDTV's ? As i'm in based in Australia.

Would it be ok, or better to select PAL to be sure it would play. I'm also guessing ATV wouldn't have a problem with either, just the TV.

That's the maximum variable framerate, it will adjust to match whatever the source is (which can in some cases vary throughout the movie). Your PAL DVDs will be encoded at 25fps even with the preset.
