Hi Guys

My first post so apologies if I'm doing things all wrong.

I'm using Handbrake to convert MKV files to MP4s for playback via iTunes/ATV2

It had been working great until halfway through an encode I decided to install VLC.

After this each file would say that it had finished encoding after a few seconds even though it obviously hadn't and the queue would move to the next file which would do the same. No additional MP4 file would be created with the exception of the one that was in progress when I installed VLC which had audio but no sound when I played it.

I am running a mid 2007 MBP 2.4GHz 4GB 500GB Snow Leopard. (my first and only mac runs great for all my intense architecture programs despite its age)
Handbrake is the 64bit version and so is VLC.
Both are up to date and i have tried uninstalling both, reinstalling just handbrake/both handbrake and VLC and restarting the computer before/after doing all of this.

My understanding is that VLC is only needed when ripping DVDs so I uninstalled that too and tried running handbrake like I used to but it seems to have permanently affected it.

Hope that's all the information you need. Appreciate the help.
