I am trying to backup a DVD using Handbrake however when I select xVid as the encoder the application crashes with an "Quit Unexpectedly" error, however using FFMPEG it works fine.

I am running Leopard 10.5.2/iMac 3.06 Ghz 4GB RAM

Do I need to install codecs to get this to work?

same problem

I'm getting the same problem.
Hardware is a big different, 2.8GHz single quad core Mac Pro.

FFMPEG seems fine but doesn't a FOURCC that most things recognise.

known problem

Found that this is a known problem with 0.9.2 and should be fixed in 0.9.3.
If you have a look in the Handbrake forum at this post.
I've gone back to 0.9.1 and it works fine on 10.5 with Xvid.
