I got a new iphone today so I gave my son my old iphone. He got it activated and it was reset. He is trying to download songs from itunes that he purchased 2 years ago on his ipod (the ipod was destroyed a year ago). He gets a message that says "this device is already associated with an apple id. You can download past purchases on this device with just one apple id every 90 days. You cannot associate this device with a different apple id for 50 days."
Is there something we can do about that?

I think this is a restriction Apple puts in to keep someone from, say, signing in with their friend's Apple ID and downloading all their music, then signing in with another friend's and so on.

The solution is to use iTunes. Download all the music to a computer using his account on iTunes, then sync the music to the phone. Eventually he will be able to log in with his Apple ID but for now this is a good stopgap.
