Hi Guys,

I'm looking into handheld GPS units, but I'm having a tough time researching them I think ...

It doesn't have to be Mac compatible, I have a PC.
I would like it to use the US, but I also would like to be able to get maps for europe, uk, other parts. I'm trying to figure out how to tell which ones have maps and which provide coordinates and direction/altitude, any insight on this?
I could probably spend up to $300 but I would be perfectly fine spending less than that.

Any units you recommend?
Any resources you particularly suggest to read through reviews?

Thanks!

This unit from Garmin looks good (and with some discounts available on the internet, well within your price range:

Garmin eTrex Vista HCx

What exactly will it be for? Hiking, driving, geocaching, boating, etc. etc.?

Also, keep in mind, maps aren't generally included (except a low-detail basemap), and each map will add about $100.
