I have done some searches here and on other sites, but have not seen anything that will totally fit the bill for me.
Here is the situation.
Old iMac G3. Once I hit several hundred photos, iPhoto 5 started to crawl. Put up with it as I got several thousand photos.
Created a new library so it would be workable, but realized it was still really slow and does not handle RAW (got a new D200 for Christmas
)
Then I got a shiny new laptop from work (not a mac
)
Used Picassa to sort and organize some photos.
My wife's laptop has some photos as well.
I have around 4-5 gig of photos right now, on multiple machines in multiple formats.
I want to basically start clean and do an import of all non-duplicate, non-thumbnail pictures.
But, I know there are duplicate folders and such due to backup/restore issues, duplicate imports on separate machines, etc.
Any suggestions on some software that I can use to basically create a new DB with all the photos, clear out duplicates and sort by exif and/create date & time?
I know Picassa will look for duplicates on importing, but not sure how good it is.
I saw this "no clone" software http://noclone.net/ but have no idea if anyone here has used it.
Any help would be appreciated.
I would actually like some suggestions for both Windows and OS X, as my fastest machine is a windows box, but I am going to buy something (maybe a macbook) after leopard comes out.
