Hi all,

Can anyone tell me why this happens when i try to download or rename a subtitle file with the extension .SRT in macOS, whenever i try to download a SRT file, the extension automatically changes to .HTML even if i have chosen to save it as .SRT?

The same thing happens when i try to rename it and save as .SRT, the extension changes to .HTML

But i noticed that on some other .SRT files i have stored on a external hard drive, they have the extension .SRT as can be seen in this screenshot i grabbed,

Why can't i save a downloaded subtitle file as .SRT?

I guess i am the only one here using SRT subtitle files..

Anyways, i figured it out myself. Turns out i need to have an application installed that supports this file format and that i can use to associate the SRT file extension with. So i downloaded an editor, Aegisub and now i can save/rename them without the added .HTML extension.

Problem solved.
