So I have a work Iphone that is a small screen (SE), and I really need a 7 or 7 plus. As much as I use it the larger screen will be of benefit.

I would like to avoid carrying both, and I know I can turn on call forward on the work version and just leave it, but texts are an issue. If I sync both phones to the same apple ID, will I get calls, SMS and imessage on both?

You can forward everything from one phone to the other. I do this.

My iPhone 6s+ is my primary phone and I forward everything to my iPhone 5 (secondary phone with it's own number) and my iPad Air 2. My iPhone 4s with iOS 6.1.3 gets thrown into the mix as well whenever it's an iMessage.

To keep things organized however, I set a different address on each device for responding/initiating anything.

For instance, if I respond using my iPhone 5 the iMessage or text will show that number. If I respond using my iPad Air 2 it shows as an email address.

Additionally, it helps to redirect things. So, if I am responding on my iPad, any further responses go to my iPad.

In regard to SMS/MMS though I imagine it's going to show the number from your SE because that is the device that would be forwarding and you'd be responding (or starting) using that device's connection.
