My dad bought himself a 2.4 15" MBP about a month ago. I told him just to buy the 2.2 because the 2.4 was unnecessarily spending money, but he wouldn't listen. Now that he's back to work, he doesn't even use it there. He says that he's afraid someone will steal it, even though it's not likely someone would do that. So, he still uses his old Toshiba at work (he's a doctor). Don't ask me why he even bothered to buy a new Mac to begin with.

My sister, on the other hand, has a legitimate reason to buy a Mac. Her 12" PowerBook G4 is buckling out of its casing and is now in the iMausoleum. It's too expensive to repair. Before Tuesday, I thought that a 2.2 MBP would be a perfect replacement for her at $1799, but now I'm wondering if it's a better idea for my dad to give her his new MBP and buy himself a MBA. I think an Air would be ideal for him because he could confidently take it to work, and since he carries his laptop all around the office, the smaller size would be perfect. However, is it logical to invest that sort of money in a computer with missing features when we can buy a fully-featured one for another $100?
