Handoff never works

Does anyone actually know a successful way to get Handoff to work between an iOS 9 iPhone 6 and a MacBook running El Capitan GM Candidate?

What a convoluted setup.

The only way I could figure out at all how to set up handoff was through iMore.com's guide. It's great when it works.

Edit: Missed the el capitan reference. sorry.
