I had an operation on the palm of my right hand recently and cannot use it for a while.
I know that I can ask 'Siri' to open the camera app and set it to take photos, but she refuses to press the shutter.
Holding the phone in one hand and trying to hit the shutter button with a finger of the same hand is a bit too much for my old clumsy digits.
So I've found a workaround.
Settings >Accessibility >Voice Control >ON
Open Camera app, point and give the voice command, "Turn volume up" or "Turn volume down"
This activates the volume control and because the Camera app is active, it takes the photo!

Nice workaround! Also, I figured out that since the volume button acts as a shutter button, I can use a headset with volume control (wired or bluetooth) and use the volume button as a remote.

I wonder if you could use the Siri Shortcuts app to achieve this as well?

I tried Siri Shortcuts first, while Siri will open the Camera app on request, once the app is open Siri ignores me.

I have beatsX and volume up/down didn't take a photo 🧐

I did try Siri Shortcuts before. It takes a photo, but the problem is, I want to view the photo on screen before the shutter is pressed. Siri won't allow this. Hence I came up with the 'Voice Control' workaround.
