I'm torn between the 14" MBP, which is great in almost every other way, and the more portable 13" MBP or even MBA.

Does anyone have hands on experience with these yet? Can you describe how portable the 14" is? How much heavier and bulky does it feel compared to the 13"?

What situations--if any--would you take a 13" out for and leave the 14" behind?

I travel a lot, and 14 is my sweet spot. I don't have 14'' MBP obviously, but every 14'' windows laptop I had fits in 13'' bag, and I can place it vertically under the seat in front of me on a plane. There has not been a single situation when I wished I had 13'' instead of 14. And keep in mind - the 14'' MBP is only marginally bigger than 13 because the bezels are much thinner. Will get mine in two weeks or so.

That is how I hope it is, only marginally bigger. The new form factor makes it look very clunky to me in the photos, but i wonder if that is just my perception. Not sure how significant the .5lb extra weight will feel either. Hope it works out for you

It is coincidentally the same size and weight as the 2013-2015 13" MBP (I have one). Which was a very popular size for its portability.

I'm coming from a 15 inch 2015 model, so the 14 inch feels great to me so far. I also looked at the 13 inch pro and air in store today, and I wouldn't say there's a huge difference in portability. At this size they're all fairly similar.

Tom... I created a new post about the resolution of a 15" MBP (mines mid 2018) v 14" M1 MBP...

Is there a big difference in "space" (I call it desktop real estate) between the 15" and 14" as the native resolution of the 14" is greater than the 15" models but I am wondering if that is only going to improve image quality rather than more space/desktop.

Do you mind letting me know what the actual resolution is on 14" please? thanks!

Here's what I get under the display settings, hope this helps! My 2015 15 inch at default was at 1440x900, so looks like more screen space under the default settings.

After having mine with me for work today portability is not an issue at all at 14". I think the 16" would be a different story but 14" is just fine.
