I've searched all over, but can't find an application that will let me edit manuscripts (as in Pages or Word) directly online, on the document, with a Wacom or similar tablet. Unless I've misunderstood, Inkwell uses a text-input box for recognition (rather than direct-input), and that is a deal-breaker for me. I want to be able to scratch out words and replace them directly in a paragraph, move text around, use common proofreading gestures for delete, space and such--without writing in a little box first.

InkGestures for Word 2003 (tablet only) looks like it would have been perfect--it recognized the most common proofreading symbols and let you edit direct, but it won't work on a MacBook. I'm not a programmer, so would not feel comfortable creating my own application or heavily modifying an existing one.

Does anyone have experience with applications that work for editing and proofreading? Or maybe the fabled Apple Tablet will help...
