Yeah, it's that day. The day when you can skip mowing the lawn. That day when your better half wakes up early to make you a cup of coffee. I took the occasion to walk my tired arse down the stairs with my custom cup o' joe to fire up my 11,2 PMG5. I haven't gotten beyond that but think the day will include "dad" gifts of new underwear and white T-shirts. If Im lucky I'll get Hot Italian beef sandwiches, fresh baked pies and beer.

For the record I bought myself a new stereo that speaks Apple for my 85' W123 with a front facing USB so I can hook up my various Apple portable products. If I was going to do anything differently, I should've taken tomorrow off but that's ok.

Have a great day. :apple:

Thanks man - yeah it's already installed and sounds great with the stock 35yo speaker config. I still have the stock German Becker stereo as well but its broken and to fix it with the RCA/USB mod I wanted, we were talking around $400 all in by the time it went to Germany and back, so I opted for new - much more affordable. This car is my daily and as such I'm not too focused on maintaining a fully stock interior at this time. Besides I have two young boys spilling crap all the damn time in the back seats LOL, so whats the point. :D

But yeah, aside from their wackadoodle vacuum systems that touch everything from climate control and on/off to the transmission, odometer and door locks (they are truly just a huge PITA to troubleshoot) these cars are awesome. I'm never selling mine. :)

Germans over engineered the nuts n bolts off this thing - Fantastic vehicle.

It's a good old Mercedes, so what do you expect? :D I'm more of an S-class guy (don't have one but love 'em) but the W123 is equally legendary.

W123 are very nice, they're getting rarer and rarer, I hardly see any these days. You might find this thread on an ex-Berlin taxi interesting, it's about a guy running a w124, your 123's younger brother:

I run a newer W210, not nearly as cool or durable, but hey it works (with many many many niggles...) as my daily driver. I also upgraded the headunit to give me bluetooth and usb so I can hook up my iPhone.

I’m a fan of all those listed cars. In the 90’s when I was in HS, I absolutely adored w124s. Nowadays I can feel you on the diesel w116 S class. As I age, I can feel this W123 car getting A bit tighter especially when the kiddos pile in - the extra S class carriage space sounds nice & they look choice. That and those Euro-lights are awesome.

I wouldn’t mind picking up a 240D - essentially An unturbo’d w123 but my wife likes zippy turbo’d volkswagens or Audis so I keep her happy in a modern VW. No way she’d go for a 2nd Sluggish non-turbo w123.

LOVE the grilles on the 2019 210s. Man that will become another classic design feature in 20 or so years. Very reminiscent of the early 80s coupe.

Hope you guys had a great Father’s Day. I Sure did.
