Well I went to the Apple Store Colorado today to help someone make the switch! Man that was fun! Anyway, while talking to one of the guys who works there I found out:

1. New Apple Store coming to Colorado by December, ie Cherry Creek neighborhood (very upscale)
2. Very shortly new Switch ads including celebs. (they had some of the people on the demo macs in the store, very cool)
3. 10.2 running on 17" iMac show models! Very sweet go check it out if you have an Apple Store near you.
4. Not as exciting but iPods will be available in a week! Woohoo, I'll be going back and will try to find out some more info, mainly on any new product announcements in the next month

Have a nice day!

I also have some east coast inside dirt if anyone's interest. After attending the opening of the new Apple store in NYC (I was there for the expo) I grabbed some breakfast at the next store diner(I guess). Anyway, I overheard some Apple suits discussing that if the store in SOHO succedes, they plan on opening store modeled after it up the Eastern Seaboard including Philadelphia. Nice huh.

celebs

The apple employee wouldnt elaborate on the celebs but we talked about the will ferrell add for awhile,

Did you guys realize how ironic the timing of that add was? He retired from SNL that Saturday! :(

Anyway, the apple employee said we will never see that version of the add on they're website... duh! (Porn Actor quip and all) but we could very likely see a slightly cleaned up version real soon!

yay

I think the switch ads won't due much. If you want to do more you gotta make macs seem cool to the peecee users. How do you do that? You have to give more Macs away, think each ad prob costs 500 -1,000 you could give a school an iMac. But what we need is apps like Carracho that are mac only :)

I knew about Cherry Creek for quite some time, all you need to do is look at Apple's retail site under job openings. As for Will Ferrell, do you mean he retired when the ad was filmed?

!

That switch ad was cool! I saw it at the show, after showing that ad, everyone in the crowd laughed and the Apple guy (about to put on a show about Jaguar 10.2) said "You like that?" followed by a laugh. I caught the last part of the switch ad! BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Ferell Retiring

No he retired from saturday night lve last week, a few days after that ad was aired

he TRIED to retire 3 years ago... only to return to the cast 4 months later. Hopefully he'll be back this time too.

Will retired on May 18th, 2002. That was the final show of the 2001-2002 season. The episode last Saturday was a rerun. I think he is the funniest man on the planet. He can always make you laugh, no matter what the subject. He will be missed. I just hope he lands a good leading role soon so that his talent can be fully tapped.

They are already opening an Apple store in King of Prussia. (Just west of Philly)

Will Ferrell had left SNL a month or so before the MWNY show not that Sat. so that is irrelevant.

Where's Cheery Creek? I'm contemplating a move to Boulder next summer, but the presence or absence of an Apple Store will be a *huge* determining factor. :D Seriously, though, is it in the Denver area?

I too had a happy trip to the Apple Store today. My iMac needed its PRAM zapped (only I didn't know that - I thought it was schizophrenic) and I was quite pleased when the nice man fixed it in under thirty seconds.

The 17" iMac looks weird. I'm sorry, but it just does. Yes, it has a much larger screen, and that's nice and everything, but it looks weird. Kind of disproportionate and wobbly. I don't like it.

However, I did notice that the word "iMac" at the bottom of the screen is in the new sans-serif font Apple's been using. Interesting.

Finally in KOP

Finally apple will decend upon the 2nd largest mall in america, the King Of Prussia Mall. God have i been waiting. The only other mac related store close by is CompUSA and we all know how that is. I even applied for a job last night it would be bad ASS if i get it

im going to the soho store tomorrow :p that place is HUGE 900 titles there and HUGE store!!! ill tell you how it goes over there

Don't worry Cleo, Cherry Creek is in the vicinity of Denver. This will be Denver's second Apple store (first was Aspen Grove)
