I don't think Apple receives enough credit for this watch feature. In fact, I've even heard some popular tech podcasters deride it as nothing but a "vibrate" mode that every other smartwatch has had since day one. They claim it is nothing but good marketing but all good marketing has at least some element of truth ;-).
The apple implementation is much more subtle than most "vibrate" notifications and in fact, I've gotten so used to it that I've been able to turn down the intensity.
I like being alerted to incoming notifications in a way that does not distract from what I happen to be doing at the time. I think a lot of thought and experimentation has gone into this notification system and appreciate it.
Anyway, bravo Apple for paying attention to the little details that make the overall experience that much better.
