Hi,

I know I should not be even practicing this.. but when I'm moving my laptop while its on and the lid is open to just go to another room, I take the laptop by hand and sometimes hold it in a 20 to 45 Degrees angle. When I do this instantly I here a click which I believe it is the hard disk.. I experience no slowdowns, hangs or anything? Is this bad? Should I prevent doing the 45 degrees hold? Will this damage the hard disk head? Does anyone else experience the same Thing?

Thanks,
Mohammad

The heads that read data off the hard drive stop moving in order to keep them from clashing with the disk platters. This is a protection that newer hard drives offer. You will experience a pause in a program that is reading data, such as quicktime/vlc playing a movie.
