Hard drive and recovery hard drive locked on iMac

My late 2008 iMac is stuck on the white screen, I restarted it while holding down Command + R and ran disk utility to try and repair hard drive with no success. I then tried to reinstall OS X, but it says both my hard drive and recover HD are locked?
