Hi All,

I was just wanting to know, will my computer's performance be affected how full my hard drive is?

At the moment my hard drive is 71% full (I have iStat), ideally, what should this figure be? I'm just wondering if it might be a good idea to replace the hard drive for a 500GB? Although I don't really need 500GB (yet!), would the performance increase by any significant amount?

Cheers,
KK

Yes, as your hard drive gets "full" it will affect performance

HDDs are fairly inexpensive right now and the 500 GB is a good value

I recommend the Scorpio Blue (check Amazon)

Cheers for that. So how full are we talking here?

If you are using the 320 GB as a single partition, I'd say not to worry about space until it gets down to about 15% free. In the meantime, you can clean up caches etc. with Onyx or something similar.
