i have a SATA hard drive that will not mount - when i connect it to my imac it spins, does a few clicks, then goes silent. i've tried a number of different enclosures, cables, etc., but nothing works.

i want to recover the data on it since it houses my 200GB aperture library that i didn't back up very well. can anyone recommend any data recovery service? obviously, i'd prefer something that won't require me to take out a second mortgage...but if any of you have had good experiences with a specific company, i'd be interested. thanks!

Ontrack is one of the major players. They have been around for years. Both Seagate and Western Digital partner with various recovery services.

I recommend you to check this thread I once read.

I guess the gadget will help you. But you should pay much attention on what you emphasize.
thanks for the link to the thread, though it's not really what i need for this problem.
