Hi everyone, have I got a doozy for you.
Alright so, my grandma's computer was acting up, and would not load her brower so she restarted the computer. After restarting, it would not load past the Apple and the grey screen. It would flash from the apple to a 'No' sign. (A circle with a diagonal line through it)
I tried starting the computer in Safe Mode, it didn't even come on.
I tried starting the computer with the Disk, and tried to use Disk Utility and Disk Repair. After it started repairing, it said 'Invalid Node Connection' and something about an invalid number connection. I stopped Disk Repair and red lettering came up saying, 1 volume unable to repair.
I quit out of the Disk Repair, and went back to the installer. When I got to the part where it prompted me to click on where I wanted to install, the Hard Drive was listed, but it froze when I clicked on it and came up with the rainbow thinking wheel and wouldn't move from there, forcing me to power down.
After I turned the power back on, I started with the CD again, and tried to re-install again. This time however, when prompted to click on where I wanted to install, there was no Hard Drive listed at all. It was just a blank area with nothing to click on.
I'm really not sure what to do from here. From what I've read from other people, it seems like the hard drive is fried There was a power surge/brown out last night, could that have contributed to it?
Thanks for any help!
