1. I think the hard drive is failing on my mbp, how would I check this? I am getting a TON of errors when i try to repair permissions, and files that i cant open, and sometimes when I launch programs they just bounce in the dock and never open.

2. Is their a program out there that will let me copy files to my external while ignoring the failed files? I am having to copy them one at a time cause of all the corrupted files.

Thanks!!

Repair permissions? Yes I have run that, it finds a TON of errors. Or do you mean something else?

Permissions repair is not disk repair.

1. put your OS X install disk into your Mac and restart your Mac while holding down the C key immediately after you heart the startup noise.

2. (after clicking to use english) select Disk Utility from one of the pull down menus in the menu bar (I forget what the menu title is that it's under)

3. once disk utility is open, click the "repair disk" button. Then restart your Mac normally.
