So yesterday my Macintosh HD drive was showing 144GB of free space, and today morning I woke up and turned it on and it shows 950MB free???

I haven't done anything that might cause this besides install a small 20MB program...Any help appreciated.

I did run disk utility and it found no problems.

I've found the discrepancy. It was a 147GB .log file. Wasn't able to empty the trash with it in it, but I found a script on this forum and ran it. The file disappeared but the space is still missing :(((((

reboot?

I think if you hold down the option button when you empty the trash it should force delete anything in there.

Thanks a million, reboot worked!

Phew. I had a major project due and couldn't have this problem while I was working on it :(
