Hi all,
I have a macbook aluminum with 160gb hard drive. I'm thinking to upgrade it to 500gb, and I found one, but the height is 0.4 inch (=10.16mm) according to this guide: http://guides.macrumors.com/Hard_Drive it needs to be 9.5mm or less to fit in a notebook.
The particular hard drive that I'm talking about is this:
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...etail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=A2387325
Would this actually fit in my laptop? Also, is WD a good brand? I have heard people talking about WD being bad, but I don't really have statistics (you can vote if you want). Another one that I'm considering is this:
http://www.megaware.com.au/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=89500
This is definitely 9.5mm in height, it is specified there.
Sorry for asking such trivial question, I haven't swapped hard drive for such a long time (I had a desktop with IDE in 2001, and have had laptops from 2004)
Cheers!
EDIT: Okay, so dell is selling another hard drive which is 0.4 inch in height, but advertised as 9.5mm. So is this a mistake in rounding in dell's part? the product is: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...etail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=341-6677
