The past few times I plug in my external Time Machine backup drive via a bare bones drive in a dock, it never shows that it ejects and the icon for it stays on the desktop. I end up turning off the dock that it is connected to and it still stays there. I suspect that it actually ejects but the icon never goes away. What is strange is that not only is the icon still there, but I can still double-click on it and see the Backups.backupdb folder inside the hard drive and it reveals a single file. I have rebooted multiple times. Any idea why it might be doing this and what I can do to correct it? After rebooting it goes away, though the problem persists when I reconnect the drive.

Thanks.
