Hello,

I’m thinking of purchasing a Titanium Powerbook to run Mac OS 9 natively. If the laptop already has OS X, can I still use Disk Utility on another OS X Machine to format it the standard way and load OS 9 from Disc?

Thank you!

p.s.

I don’t want to partition from OS X because I have a lot of OS 9 applications that I want to install.

Formatting a drive erases it, so you don't want to do that. Your best option is to partition the drive and format the partition as Mac OS Extended. Then install OS 9 on the partition and install OS X on top of OS 9 on that same partition. Now you can move files from Partition 1 to Partition 2. Sorry, but that's one of the best options.

Format HFS+, APM and be sure you check the "Install OS 9 Drivers."

You will need to do this in TDM or from a bootable install disk.
