Hello!

I've tried to change Hard drive icon with copy/paste technique but it didn't work. Then i've installed a CandyBar - still, doesn't work. File attached.

However, changing icon for other hdds works. It doesn't only for Macintosh HDD.

Any ideas,
Thanks in advance!

P/S and yeah, i've done Finder restarts a couple of times - no effect.

Did you follow this procedure?

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304735

Don't use Finder... just "Get Info" from the HD icon on your desktop.

Hey!

Thanks for replay! Yeah, i've folowed that one. The thing is that you cannot paste and Icon in info panel, this pasting simply doesn't work. Well, paste option isn't highlighted after I copy anything. I've attached another screenshot so you can see it.

... as I said, "Don't use Finder... just "Get Info" from the HD icon on your desktop."

  1. Click on the icon you want to copy, from the top left corner of a "Get Info" window
  2. Press Command-C to copy
  3. Click on the icon you want to change, from the top left corner of a "Get Info" window
  4. Press Command-V to paste

One more thought... very basic... do you have proper permissions?

^ yes, what ggjstudios said.

Mine does greys out the paste in the finder bar too but you can still change the icon in "get info" by command v. You have to select the icon (upper left, it should highlight blue) and then paste.

(just making sure)

Hey, thanks for reply!

Well, I've tried command+v also. Nothing works. Even CandyBar can't change my Icon! Whatta?!

Did that. Exactly as you said. Command-I on Macintosh HDD from Desktop. Same story.

PS. about permissions. where can i chack that? Thanks!

Ah yeah! Got it! Permissions were wrong!

Admin should have "Read & Write" privilege, instead of just "Read".

Thanks for your time everyone!

Ive tried repairing permissions on the MacBook I use and things and it still doesnt work. Ill try some more things and get back to this thread once I finish.

I've changed my permissions manually in the "Get info" window. See attachment.
