I have already changed one of my hard drives icons and with the get info and copy and pasting of the image. That worked fine. Now i am trying to change the icon in my other hard drive with no luck. I have tired several JPEG files and everytime i do get info on them if just shows the basic jpeg preview icon and when i copy and paste that icon onto the new drive i it changes to that JPEG finder Icon and no the picture i wanted. I have even tried compressing the images so file size isn't too big.

An icon can only be changed into another icon, you'll need to look into icon creation for OSX, it's quite simple.

I'm using Apple developer tools' Icon Composer and Icns2Rsrc, it's free.

Bear in mind that you'll need to export folders with the icons applied rather than .icns files. You can then copy the icon from the folder onto the drive.

The way Macs handle icons is really very odd when you stop to think about it.
