Hard Drive Information

I was just wondering, after enabling the option to show hard drive info under the icon.. does it update accurately? Right now it says 74.09GB, 56.54GB free.. but after uninstalling some things and clearing out the trash box it doesn't update. To look at the updated hard drive info, I can see it when I open the Finder window. Is this normal or do I have to do a manual refresh info/restart computer to just see the hard drive info updated?

Does it change when you relaunch the Finder (from the Force Quit menu) ?
