Hard Drive Issues - Post Here

I've seen plenty of the threads about the hard drive issues, but they are not clear enough. All I want to know is:

1. If you have a 500GB 7200RPM hard drive, and installed the recent firmware update, has it fixed the problem?
2. If you have a 500GB 5400RPM hard drive, have you had any click, beeps, or hangs? (I recently saw on the Apple.com forums people saying the problem is not limited to 7200RPM hard drives.)

I'm ready to buy my new MacBook Pro 17", however, I want to know if the new firmware has worked or not.
