All over the place
Does any of you folks know which hard drive Apple includes with the new Blackbook (2.4 GHz)?

And what's the 160GB drive shipped with the white model (2.4GHz)?

I failed to find this information on Google.

Many thanks.

Since the new 2.4s came out I have had three different Black MacBooks. The first two I had to return because the whole machine had a pretty strong vibration to them. My theory was that it was the hard drive causing this vibration. I took the hard drive out of all three and found that the first two had Fujitsu hard drives in them. The third one, and the one I'm keeping, has a Hitachi hard drive in it. It has hardly any vibration to it.

Anyone know if the MB will support 3Gb/s SATA or only 1.5Gb/s? I'd hate to spend the money on a 3 if I only get 1.5 speed.

The SR's are Seagate, I doubt they would have changed. Doesn't really matter about 1.5gb or 3gb, you wont notice any speed increase due to the huge bottleneck of the hard drive speed.

That may be the case, but for those who care, the newer MB's since late 2007, have the ICH8-M southbridge that can support up to 3Gb/s.

2.4 blackbook

Capacity: 232.89 GB
Model: Hitachi HTS542525K9SA00

I bought the low-end Macbook (Late 2007) in the store 2 weeks before the update and it came with this same Hitachi in an 80GB - HTS542580K9SA00. I replaced it last week with the same one in the 250GB, which is in the quote.

I just bought a refurb 2.2 BlackBook. I have a Seagate ST9160821AS. I'm very pleased as I prefer Seagate HDDs.

new macbook 2.4, 160 Hitachi HTS542516K9SA00 sata 1.5, also my third, and the first quiet one, although i did not check the first two, they both had deep rumbles.

back to this 3.0 sata thing...can this controller do this and would the drive speed just bottleneck it anyway? i use sata 2 3.0 drives on a Frankenstein pc and although they are in the right modes i only get maybe 1.5 in real tests. i think my dg33tl bottlenecks at 2.0 gps right over my drive controller so whats the point of even advertising 3.0 gps? does anyone know the speeds of the penyrn logic board? also, is this a 64 bit machine?

I have the same drive in my 2.2GHz blackbook. The rumbles are definitely disconcerting.
