So I have a 250gb WD external USB drive with a ton of stuff backed up on it. Long story short it was working the other day, but now its not mounting. I used DiskWarrior and it repaired permissions and such. It also says "This disk does appear on the desktop" and yet its not there. Also, in Disk Utility, I unmounted, mounted, ejetcted, etc and nothing makes the drive show up. It tells me how much free space it is and its the right amount so I know the drive isnt erased. Anyone know what I should do?

Similar experience

My 250GB hard drive wouldn't mount either; wasn't seen by computer.

Here's what I was advised to do, did, and was successful with:

I took the drive out of the external holder, unplugged it from the external's USB connector, and then piggy-backed it to the internal drive using the auxillary 4 pin power and IDE connectors.

Worked great. All my data was there. Happy days were here again.

I hope this helps.
