500gb 2.5 sata hard drive is not being detected by my Macbook.
Some weeks ago, I got out a hard drive I used to have as the main hd on my Mac to retrieve some file from it. I plugged it into a hard drive adapter and it showed up and the files could be seen. Shortly after it was detected, it disappeared. I bought an Inateck external hard drive enclosure to see if the drive could be detected. No such luck.
My question is, what could have happened between it being recognized the first time, the files clearly being shown, and then shortly afterwards it no longer shows up? The drive powers up normally, an active light clearly shows up on the external housing but not showing up on the Macbook. There are no clicking sounds as if the drive has crashed, just the normal hum of a drive working.
